Medieval Swordsmanship Club
About
The Medieval Swordsmanship Club (also referred to as Kron, Fullerton) is a student organization dedicated to the study and practice of Historical European Martial Arts (HEMA). Using sources written during the Medieval and Renaissance time periods, the HEMA community pieces back together a martial art that has been unpracticed for ages.
Our club has various European sword and weapon styles that we practice. We do so using blunted trainers which are weighted to simulate the balance of the historic weapons. Once members have gained an understanding of the proper techniques, they have the opportunity to spar and test their abilities with their peers. All sparring is done with technique, self-control, and proper safety equipment.
Our primary area of study is the German longsword. It is from this tradition the club got its name, 'Kron' which is a guard position that protects one's head- or 'crown'.
We welcome all who are interested! No experience or knowledge is necessary! First-time guests may practice at no cost at all! If you are interested in joining or wish to learn more about what we do, please email us at Kronfullerton@gmail.com for our discord link. Practices are every Wednesday from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm on the lawn in front of the Student Recreation Center.
